3 Ways My Car Accident Shifted Me

I was cruising through life with my mind set on some very specific and pretty lofty goals. I was doing a good job keeping up everything. My schedule was super crazy and probably somewhat unhealthy but I didn't notice too much. I just kept my eyes focused on the prize until...
Literally, I crashed into a house!

It was that accident that changed everything for me. Running into a house caused me to shift in many ways but here are 3 major ones.
  1. Slow Down - I was doing way too much, way too fast! My slow down was probably the most obvious shift that took place in my world simply because I physically couldn't move at the same pace. Slowing down gave me time to look at my life from a new perspective. It gave me the ability to realize things were definitely out of balance and I needed a shift.
  2. Healing - I had to focus on healing. It didn't matter how good or important my goals were, if I didn't take the time to heal, there was no way I was going to reach them. Because, I had time on my hands, I was able to recognize that it wasn't just physical healing I needed. There were certain disappointments and fears I was holding onto that were driving me to operate a such a crazy pace in ways that weren't allowing me to fulfill desires in my heart. 
  3. Alignment - I had to get honest with myself about my thinking and beliefs that were off. They were leading me to live in ways that were not line with the essence of who I was created to be. I needed a shift. I was out of alignment. A slower pace of life for a few months allowed me to recognize the areas of my life that were out of whack and quite possibly hurting me more than the accident.
I could dive into each of these three ways I've shifted, but I'll save that for some later posts. For now, I'd love to hear from you! What situations have you had that shook you up a bit and made you realize a shift was in order? What ways did you shift?
